Happy Christmas Eve!! What a wonderful time of year. I hope all of you are with your loved ones today or can be in contact with them over the weekend. My darling youngest son is home for college for a whole month. I feel so lucky. His big brother and his fiance are in London for graduate school and will not be home; however, we have a skping planned for Christmas morning and I am thankful that skype is around so that we at least have that!!! I will be going to visit them in February as well. I'm so glad. To anyone who has discovered me, and for those of you who visit later, enjoy the holidays, and if you can't be with loved ones, I hope you are soon.

Baking, Sewing and Fun Times!

Sew, I made a mug rug for my hubby to give in a Secret Santa exchange last night, worked on four other mug rugs (almost done), made a hexagon pin cushion with a vintage glass button for my friend's birthday (see photo), and got all the sets of towels/coasters/potholders for my family that need to be wrapped. Boy, there are 11 sets! Now, I really do have to wrap them! I also dipped the Rice Krispie Peanut Butter Balls I made the night before. Yum. Now, I just have the English Almond Toffee and Licorice Carmels to make.

Wow, my first comment!!!

Ok, here goes again .... second post! I will be better, I promise. I have a couple followers now and I feel a responsibility to you!! I'm still learning about posting and all this fun stuff. Been busy finishing holiday gifts, projects and anxiously awaiting my youngest son's return from college on Saturday evening! Yeah! I am certainly not as prolific of a seamstress/quilter/crafter as a lot of bloggers, but I love to read all about your fabulous work and get new ideas about what I hope to someday do. I have made kitchen towels with heart shaped potholders (my "signature" Christmas gift ... always requested, or rather demanded, by my family), coasters, mug rugs and a quilt (the "Purple Burple" that is currently my blog picture) for my mother. I'm currently sitting in my cozy chair watching the news, trying to avoid the binding on that quilt ... I will now go upstairs and finish it ... and post a finished picture ... I promise! Thanks for stopping by. (I've changed my header pic as I FINALLY finished the purple quilt! I'll add more later, but am so glad to be done!!!) So the first pic is an "up close" of the front and back of the purple quilt, the second are pinecone ornaments I made years ago that I just love and think I'll make some more of them, and the last is a pic of some of my Christmas gifts ... which I mentioned above .... enjoy. Have a great day. K

My first post!!! Quilting away!

I'm trying this and hoping someone notices!! I'm a new empty nester and trying to keep busy so as not to miss the boys too much (one left for London and one left for college). I've only been quilting for a few years but have been sewing for many, many years. I've found I love quilting so much more then making clothing for myself! The squares here on my blog are the blocks I'm working on for my mom. She chose the colors for her guest room. I love the bold purples. It is a variation of X-Blocks. So fun and interesting. The header is one way to put the blocks together and this is another with one of the border options to the left and one to the bottom ... I am leaning toward the border on the left ... what do you think? I'm not going to post a lot today as this is just my start and I'm just learning ... plus have to see if anyone notices me!!! Have a great week everyone!
