A New Mug Rug!
Sew, I only have my six followers, but that's okay, this is very cathartic for me. I've decided I've been a little depressed since my youngest went back to school on January 15th. I need to pick myself up and get back in the game. I did finish and send off my mug rug for the mug rug swap I was in that needed to be in the mail by the 31st. I had to send mine to Argentina. That was kind of fun knowing that my little mug rug would go to a foreign country where I've never been (although we have friend from Argentina, does that count?) So, here's a picture of my mug rug. I think it turned out well. My hubby liked it and wants me to recreate it ... although, I'm just not one to recreate ... once I do something, I'm on to the next thing (except One Block Wonders.... oh how I love those).

Your mug rug is beautiful. I love the deep rich colors.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I was wondering if you are able to help me. I hope you dont mind me posting here. I am making the double pinwheel for Shannon, and have come unstuck. I have cut this out and as i begin to put it together it seems short in the centre. Can you tell me did you paper piece this. I still dont quite understand paperpiecing actually. Any help much appreciated. Debra :)
ReplyDeleteYours is lovely...i am not sure what i am doing wrong ...sigh
ReplyDeleteDebra. I am never quite sure how to answer when people post here so I hope you get this answer .... No paper piecing! I am not good at that at all. This is much easier .... I had to figure the size myself so this is kind of my own block ... just made another smaller block bigger to fit the 12-1/2 inch size ... sew two strips (wide of fabric) together (3.75" each) and then cut 7-1/2" squares, then cut diagonally to make the triangles (you will get more than one square). Gosh, this seemed so easy when I did it .... anyway, you will then need to do another set if you want three colors (again, an accident because I didn't like mine with only two colors) then mix and match how you like (you probably need another set of strips to get the whole blocks completed ...) gosh, I hope this makes sense. If you need further info, let me know and I can put some pics up! Good luck. I hope you are well in Australia! My best friend lives in Brisbane and was spared both flooding and Yasi! I hope you were too!
